I’m Vanessa Byrem-Tangy, a digital transformation specialist and the founder of Pilyr, a bespoke digital strategy and development practice partnering with a select group of startups, nonprofits, e-commerce brands, service businesses, and small-to-mid-sized organizations ready to grow with intention.
I take the fear and the confusion out of "where do I start" and "what do we do now".
Pilyr was founded on the belief that strong businesses are built on strong foundations. Like architectural pillars, the right systems, people, process, and technology, create stability, resilience, and room to scale. With over a decade of experience in digital transformation, I help organizations turn complexity into clarity by aligning strategy, design, technology, and marketing into systems that actually support the way teams work.
My background spans startup environments, mission-driven organizations, and agency leadership, where I helped grow a firm from startup to multi-million-dollar success while leading strategy across marketing, operations, and technology. Helping organizations unlock growth by designing systems that connect people instead of isolating them.
What sets my work apart is the ability to think technically and communicate human-to-human. I translate complex requirements into tools and workflows teams actually enjoy using, whether that’s a CRM, e-commerce ecosystem, internal operations platform, or custom digital experience. Technology should feel empowering, not overwhelming, and every solution led by Pilyr is designed for real-world use, not just to look good in a deck.
Pilyr is intentionally small by design. I limit the number of clients I partner with at any one time so each engagement receives senior-level attention, thoughtful execution, and long-term thinking. Clients don’t just "another vendor" or "agency", they gain a hands-on partner, a team member that is invested in their success, momentum, and sustainability.
I’m based in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, in the Charleston area, and work with clients across the United States, including teams in New York City, New Jersey, and Ohio. I regularly collaborate across time zones and have partnered with distributed and global teams on complex projects.
